A New Initiative For Retired Civil Servants On The Cards - Ali Hamsa

SERDANG, March 26 (Bernama) -- The government is introducing a new initiative to safeguard the welfare of retired civil servants, known as "1Malaysia Retirement Civil Service Support".

Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Dr Ali Hamsa said the initiative under the National Blue Ocean Strategy (NBOS) will be managed by the Public Service Department (PSD).

"This initiative is one of the services for retired public servants, with more focus on a few things like wellbeing and welfare of pensioners, entrepreneurship, financial management and health care.

"This clearly shows the government continues to preserve and not marginalise civil servants even after retirement," he said in his speech at Majlis Khidmat Bakti Bil.1 2014 here Wednesday night.

He said a study on perspective retirees implemented under the PSD showed that 80.76 percent of retirees were concerned about the issue of health, 53.18 percent on welfare and 48.94 percent were seeking advice on financial planning retirement plans.

Ali said a website, created for retired civil servants was being developed by the PSD and expected to be launched in April.
