PAS BEGS FOR VOTES TO DEPRIVE BN OF A ONE SEAT MAJORITY

PAS begs for Kuala Besut voters to deprive the ruling Barisan Nasional (BN) state government the Kuala Besut state seat so that PAS can regain the state to give them (voters) better benefits.

The party deputy president Mohamed Sabu or popularly known as Mat Sabu said PAS just needed Kuala Besut to make it even – 16 to 16 seats – and the two petitions the party filed against BN for alleged fraud would help it form the state government.

Speaking at a ceramah last night, he claimed PAS would practice its Welfare State policy if it wins Terengganu to give the people better life just like the Pakatan Rakyat (PR) government of Selangor and Penang.

Attended by some 100 people, the ceramah was tame and Mat Sabu did not project any fiery oratorical skill as he always do given the month of Ramadhan where Muslims are to be at their best manner and adhere strictly to religious teachings.

After all, some locals said there was nothing to talk about in ceramahs because the general election had just be concluded two months ago where they are still waiting for projects promised during the general election to begin.

Campaigning during the Ramadhan month in Kuala Besut by-election is tame and subdued and the environment is normal except the clear visible of flags and banners lining the streets and kampungs.
Both parties are engaged in vigorous house-to-house campaign with ceramahs held in the houses for BN and PAS at empty fields and lands along the road.

Attendants to these ceramahs thus far do not exceed 150 and all are held around 10.30pm, after the Terawih prayer.

So far the big guns that have converge here was Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin while for PAS was party president Abdul Hadi Awang.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Abdul Razak is scheduled here on Sunday while PAS has scheduled Pakatan Rakyat (PR) big guns on Thursday night.

However, no one can confirm whether PR big guns like Anwar Ibrahim and Lim Kit Siang would be coming.
