KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 29 (Bernama) -- PAS president Datuk Seri
Abdul Hadi Awang will be allowed to provide an explanation over Radio Television
Malaysia (RTM) on his "Amanat Haji Hadi" (Haji Hadi's Message)
delivered in 1981 branding Umno members and supporters as infidels,
Information, Communications and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Dr Rais Yatim said
today.
He said Abdul Hadi would have to apply to the ministry
stating the choice of channel to give the explanation.
"RTM can broadcast his statement if the contents are
suitable and have news value. However, at the same time, Abdul Hadi should
allow others to give their views as well because his message was delivered in
1981," he said.
Rais spoke to reporters after watching a rehearsal of the
Malaysia Christmas and New Year 2013 celebration scheduled for Dec 31 at
Dataran Merdeka, here.
Also present were the ministry's Secretary-General, Datuk Seri
Kamaruddin Siaraf; Special Affairs Department Director-General Datuk Fuad
Hassan; Director-General of Broadcasting Datuk Norhyati Ismail and Culture and
Arts Department Director-General Datuk Norliza Rofli.
